I got inspired for this shoot while I was listening to the song “Summer in the city” by Lovin Spoonful. And, of course, this summer was pretty hot and humid in Ottawa. So, I decided to make this shoot downtown in the middle of the afternoon, while the weather was the hottest. We went on top of a parking garage that was deserted, and on the patio of a local trendy restaurant. The clothes were provided by a local designer, and the hair and make-up was done by make-up artist Robin Seguin-Jeffery.

“Summer in the city” shoot
Aug 20
Over a month ago, I did an amazing shoot in collaboration with the talented 53 karat‘s hair stylists Nicole Thompson and Sonya Hotte, and jewelry designer Josee Robitaille. We really made a great team all together!
This week, I did a major shoot for Ottawa designer Mika Van Dromme, capturing different pieces of her collections. We did the shoot at Confederation Park, in Ottawa. Working with fashion designers is truly one of the things that I love doing most. I also want to thank hair stylist Adrian Brown, make-up artist Robin Seguin-Jeffery, and the models, who did excellent jobs! Here are some photos from the shoot. There’s more to come!
Inspiration: Mario Testino
May 28
Mario Testino is THE contemporary high fashion photographer. Having worked for a number of fashion magazines (Vogue, Vanity Fair, Allure, etc…) and many designers (Gucci, Calvin Kline, D&G, etc…), the photographer who was born in Lima, Peru, has been the #1 photographer for fashion. Also photographing celebrities, he had his big break when he took famous photographs of Lady Di in 1997. His style influenced me a lot, not so much for his portraits, but mostly for his fashion shots.
Toronto

I absolutely loved to visit Toronto for the first time last month. I did my “Toronto – FACES” project in the streets, but I also took time to take random photos. I liked the city, even if I thought I wouldn’t like it. The city is nothing exceptional, but it has some really cool things. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll even move there. There are a lot of opportunities for photographers and models, and it is after all THE city in the country for fashion.
As for my “TORONTO – FACES” project, it will be expanded this summer when I go to Toronto a second time, to take more photos of people in the streets. The photos will be a little bit different as my approach will not be the same… so stay tuned! I had the idea of this photo shoot for a long time, but I never got time to do it. Finally, two weeks ago, I contacted a model that I often work with, Pascale, and told my idea. She immediately wanted to be part of the shoot. Then I asked Gabryela, who is currently studying in photography and modeling part time. The two girls really fit together for the shoot with the “superhero” theme. The make-up was done by Pascale and the hair was done by Jesse Alberto, who works at the salon Fernando Cellini in Ottawa. They did a wonderful job that added a lot to the visual. We went downtown Ottawa to shoot, and it really was a freezing night so I have to congratulate the models to have done such a good job!
